Mac Can’t Hold Back
We’ve been waiting anxiously on the edge of our seats for the return of Mac Ayres, not that he’s been gone for a long moment. The New York singer-songwriter is back with his new album, cloudy. It is carefully crafted and contains 15 cutting-edge tracks from his SoundCloud days.
The album Comfortable Enough, which came out in 2023, was a treasure. Magic 8ball (2021) was a COVID reliever during stressful stay-at-home days. This latest album is reassuring after the divisive presidential election.
In the end, everything will be just fine.
Good music is what keeps us going. Just like sports, it brings the world together. Thank you, Mac, for pursuing music and dropping out of Berklee College of Music back then. Just like one of his idols, Stevie Wonder, he has found his way around musical instruments. It all started with the piano, after getting a keyboard at 11.

The album cloudy isn’t too unfamiliar. It contains songs that we fans have heard previously. Mac wanted to bring them back to life for everyone to enjoy. They won’t get lost on the World Wide Web now. Glad that holdin’ made the cut and found its way on the album. It’s a sensational and straightforward song that gives goosebumps whenever you hear it. And what to say about since u been gone I been lonely? Being repetitive isn’t an issue since the beat is catchy and his voice is divine.
Mac is starting to make a name for himself. Cloudy is his 4th album already. Time flies by.
The Long Island native first album, Something to Feel, was released in 2018. You probably remember the up-tempo song Waiting or the slow jam Stay.
Before that, Mac Ayres released his first EP in 2017.
The soulful artist has stories to tell. But more is to come. Are we ever lucky? Mac isn’t even in his prime yet. Well, that’s according to me.
At this rhythm, we will be blessed with many more albums in the coming years. Mac doesn’t hold back when it comes to producing good music. His catalog shows how hard he works. He has released six projects in 8 years. Mac can’t hold back on sharing his emotions with the world. That’s the true gift of an empath. He only wants to comfort people who need love.
What’s the message to take away from the album?
That it gets cloudy at times. That you may feel like giving up at times. But remember that the sun is never too far away. It’s always just around the corner. Just wait for it…
