Summer rimes with long nights, heat, and beautiful sceneries. It doesn’t get better than that.

That’s my take. I dare you to prove me wrong.

A new season is fast approaching. Winter seems days away. I don’t know about you, but my mind is still stuck in summer. Isn’t that strange?

I feel this positivity you don’t get during November, when it gets dark early and the trees have lost all their leaves. Don’t get me wrong, as are all seasons, November is still a beautiful month.

Music needs to align with my current state of mind. Adele’s listening parties can wait until February, the month of heartbreaks. As it is always the case, I need to make room for introspection. But it is now empowerment season. Hope it is for you as well.

While looking online for something new and different, I came across this Toronto artist whom I didn’t know before. Right away, it made me think of warmer days, enjoying a long road trip with the family, or kayaking on a calm lake.

Yoko Gold is an R&B up-and-comer singer. His voice is suiting on his debut 9-track album. Escape From Limbo was released a couple of weeks ago, on October 18.

I’m glad I discovered him while browsing after a long workday. Yoko Gold creates art by mixing rap and R&B with the correct dosage. Being Tory Lanez’s brother, he knows what fame could look like. Talent runs in the family, it seems.

The singer who poured his soul on Escape From Limbo knows how to write. Suddenly, we aren’t missing Frank Ocean anymore. He recently announced on social media that his first show will happen soon in Toronto.

Get ready to go down memory lane with this album. The Torontonian will make you revisit your past on this less-than-30-minute project. Every song will resonate with you, that’s guaranteed. Talking about road trips, the song I-95 (Interstate 95) is dear to my heart. It talks about a trip with friends across the East Coast. The artist, on this track at least, has a magnificent way to talk about the past.

There are too many limbos in our lives. We are constantly waiting for the next big thing and looking for something new. At the same time, we are spontaneous creatures. We can’t run away from uncertainties, but we can leave chaos behind. Yoko Gold is our therapeutic guide on his debut album.

Listen to all of it to get in touch with your feelings, especially with Obsolete. “You can’t learn to love me till you love yourself.”

Mirage is one song that makes you think about slowing down in this wild world. It contains an important message. In the end, we all ask ourselves the same existential question. “Why am I here?”

Yoko becomes vulnerable when he sings: “If I die tonight, who gonna cry tonight?” We all relate to that when dark clouds take over our mind. Or when we get lonely.

Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith. Jump off this mountain to greater things, even though it looks scary at the top. When you trust yourself, great things can happen.

Congratulations Yoko Gold on your debut project that will certainly move mountains.
