Look outside, the sun is shinning during parts of the day, and the leaves are more colourful than ever.

Most importantly, Dayglow just released an anticipated new project.

The 23-year-old artist from Texas is on a bright path, reinventing alternative music. The indie pop singer-songwriter, a self-taught musician, released his third album last week, a 10-track project that is upbeat. The whole thing flirts brilliantly between the pop and the alternative genres. You will definitely want to give the artist a listen if you don’t know him yet.

You will find yourself conquered by the unique voice and melodies- it’s not what you would expect. Sloan Struble, his birth name, has been delivering classy hits since his first album Fuzzybrain, in 2019. The singer-songwriter has then been compelled to grow and adapt quite rapidly- all of that during an indescribable pandemic, which makes it even more remarkable.

Without reinviting himself entirely on this most recent project, the musician did something different on this one. He seems more mature, and more intertwined with his emotions.

Dayglow considers himself as a one-man band, alike Tame Impala (which he looks up too), or Charlie Puth. The man is full of talents. He not only sings, but also writes his own songs, plays multiple instruments as well as producing his material. That way, he can make sure that he is fully satisfied with what gets out there. Dayglow’s has complete artistic control over his albums. What more can you ask for in an artist? That is the pinnacle of music. Artists like him show-up once a decade.

This one of a kind musician is so passionate by what he does- a role model even at his early age. In one interview he did with Dork, Dayglow explained what music means to him and how relaxing it can be: “ […] I can’t help but make music, I really can’t. It’s totally natural to me. It’s such a paradox; the way that I relax is by going home and working in my studio, making music. It’s what I absolutely love to do.” We can all agree on that. The best way to relax is definitely by doing one of our hobbies. Sadly, some people never realize that.

Additionally, Dayglow makes art with joy, fun being one of his criteria over the years while in the tough business of music. You rarely hear sad ballads on his albums. That’s just who he is.

His songs are catchy unlike anything else and put a smile on everyone’s face. During an interview with Notion, he stated the importance of making feel good music: “I feel like happy music gets categorized in this Disney subcategory or something where it’s not cool, or it can’t be taken seriously. I think I just want to be really honest and direct with my music and still make it feel optimistic.” That’s something Dayglow has been pretty up front with. One of his goals when creating masterpieces is to bring the listeners in another world and create for them a “joyful experience”. In sort of a way, he is that ray of sunshine during a cloudy day.

Dayglow’s new album starts with a banger, an over 5 minutes song called Second Nature. It was the right track to get the party started. It even resembles Daft Punk with the autotune emerging at certain moments.

Like the rest of his discography, People In Motion is composed of feel-good sounds. They aren’t necessarily all about love. His songs predominantly revolve around inspiration. They are meant to make you feel better, by pointing to the fact that we share lots of similarities. Along the 35-minute album, you never get bored. Songs like Deep End bring those enjoyable moments.

The artist, who has already produced 3 years in the spare of 4 years, is well known for his colourful beats as well as his funky cloths. Pooneh Ghana

How Do You Know?, the 6th track, has this futuristic feel to it, with an innovative beat that we aren’t used to hear these days. Like She Does is another one you don’t want to skip; a song that gets better and better as it goes on. The artist decides to finish off with Talking To Light, which is a nice transition in anticipation to what is next to come in a near future.

The most popular song, in the public eye at least, is Then It All Goes Away, released as a single before the drop of the October album.

Dayglow, who sees himself as an introvert, sure doesn’t want us to take ourselves too seriously. Considering all aspects of a specific situation, we don’t control much. It is worth it to go with the flow. And that’s something that is brought up on Radio, the second song of the newest album.

That’s something he displays naturally in all of his videos when moving his hips with no worries.

He also wants us to reach out for our dreams. Well, that’s one of the lessons we can get out of the new album.
